It does not matter how much you love nature and animals, we are sure that no one wants insects especially in the house. Many people use different chemicals to repel these creepy and yucky creatures. Sometimes these products fail to do what they are supposed to and they are also very harmful for the human health.
So, instead of buying expensive toxic chemicals, we have prepared for you a natural remedy that will help you get rid of any kind of insect. The main ingredient of this remedy is mint. Mint has a strong and refreshing scent and it is used in various dishes throughout the whole world as well as for its medicinal properties. Mint is a low-maintenance plant that you can easily grow in your own home and have a fresh supply whenever you need it.
Use mint to repel insects
Insect repellant spray
Take 5 parts of rubbing alcohol and 1 part of peppermint oil and put them in a spray bottle. Use this mixture before going outside to prevent insect bites.
Sachet bags
Break a few mint leaves and put them in sachet bags. Place these bags all around you home especially in the most problematic places.
Crushed mint leaves
You can prevent ants from invading your home by placing some crushed dry mint leaves on the places they usually appear. You can also use mint tea bags in case you don’t have dry mint.
Mint plants
Keeping potted mint in the house or in the garden will prevent mosquitoes from bothering you. You can also crush some of the leaves to make the scent stronger. To keep the mint growing for the next season, cut it to the ground at the end of the season and cover it with compost.
Protect your animals
Your pets should also be given the proper protection from insect bites. Take some mint leaves and crush them so that the oils are released and then rub them on your pet’s fur.
