Nail biting is considered a sign of anxiety, stress and nervousness. This seemingly harmless habit can actually cause numerous serious health conditions that can even be fatal. This is why you have to stop biting your nails and tell others too before it is too late.
John Gardner was a 40-year-old man who had the habit of biting his nails and could not stop. Even after his doctor warned him of the harm he could do to his health the man continued biting his nails which eventually led to painful septic infection that resulted with a heart attack.
Doctors are well aware that nail biting can be extremely dangerous. They explain that since this man kept biting his nails until they started bleeding he ruined his fingers which have become insensitive to pain. Anxiety and depression are the main culprits for this habit.
Dr. Vernon, who is John’s doctor, said that his nails were constantly in a poor condition and were bleeding too often. That bleeding worsened overtime and the wounds on his fingers got a septic infection. The doctors prescribed him antibiotics which were unable to treat the infection and in the end they had to amputate them. John felt good for some time after the surgery however it did not last that long. John had a heart attack just a few days after his 40th birthday which was due to the septic infection.
John’s mother says that they didn’t expect that to happen and it had hit the whole family very hard. She does not want this to happen to anyone else.
Biting your nails will not only make them look ugly, it can also be very dangerous for your health. This is why you have to stop this habit immediately in order to prevent serious and life-threatening problems from occurring.
