How often have you canceled a doctor’s appointment without rescheduling for another time? In case you don’t have time to go for a regular check here are some things you can do at home in order to make sure your health is in shape.
Check your health in one minute:
-Take a spoon and use it to scrape the entire surface of your tongue. Make sure that your tongue is wet with saliva.
-Put the spoon in a transparent plastic bag and place it under bright light (sun or a desk lamp).
-Keep it there for one minute.
-If the spoon is clean and there are no stains or unpleasant odor it means that your organs are healthy and properly functioning. In case you notice something strange it means that there is something wrong in your body.
Odor from the spoon
-Strong and rotting odor indicates lung issues. This smell is much stronger and more unpleasant than traditional bad breath. It could be a sign of many lung issues from infections to even cancer.
-Sweet and fruity odor usually indicates diabetes. In case your body does not process sugar properly, the blood sugar levels elevate causing the cells to burn fat for energy. Ketones, which are released as a byproduct of this process, cause the fruity smell of your breath.
-Ammonia odor indicates kidney issues such as kidney failure.
Stains on the spoon
-White or yellow stains with a thick coating indicate thyroid gland dysfunction. The thyroid hormone regulates the conversion of beta-carotene to Vitamin A, and a deficiency in this hormone causes the yellowish carotene buildup.
-Purple stains show improper blood flow, increased cholesterol or bronchitis. Bronchitis reduces the efficiency of the airwaves which bring oxygen in the blood stream resulting in purple stains.
-White stains show respiratory infection. Several infections and viruses cause white buildup on the tongue.
-Orange stains indicate kidney disease. Chronic kidney disease can cause the mouth tissue to appear pale because of anemia or orange because of carotene-like deposits.
