One day I have decided to quit
I quit my job, relationship and spirituality and I also wanted to quit my life.
But I went to the woods to have the last talk with god.
“God”, I asked,
“Can you give me one good reason not to quit?”
I was surprised by his answer…
He said:
“Look around. Do you see the fern and the bamboo? When I planted their seeds I took very good care of them. I gave them light and water. The fern quickly grew from the earth and its brilliant green covered the floor. Unlike the fern, nothing came from the bamboo seed. However, I did not quit on it. The second year the Fern became even more vibrant and plentiful, but there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. The third year the same happened and I still did not quit. The fourth year was also the same but again I did not quit.
The fifth year there was a tiny sprout that emerged from the earth. It looked small and insignificant compared to the fern. However, in just 6 months the bamboo became more than 100 feet tall. It spent 5 years just growing the roots. The roots made it strong and provided it with what it needed in order to survive. I would never give my creations more than they could handle.”
Then he asked me: “Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots. I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you. Don’t compare yourself to others. The bamboo had a different Purpose than the fern. Yet they both make the forest beautiful. Your time will come”, he said to me.
“You will rise high”.
I asked “How high should I rise?”
He asked in return “How high will the bamboo rise?”
“As high as it can?” I questioned.
He said: “Yes. Give Me glory by rising as high as you can.”
Then I left the forest and came back with this story. I hope these words can help you see that you should never give up because neither will God give up on you.
Instead of telling the Lord how big the problem is, tell the problem how Great the Lord is.
