Skin icing is a beauty ritual that is becoming very popular due to its contribution to a better looking skin. This therapy has been used by beauty experts because of the numerous benefits it provides.
Korean women also regularly use skin icing as a part of their beauty regimen.
According to health experts, skin icing can:
- refresh the face
- prevent wrinkle formation
- fight acne and blemishes
- promote blood flow to the face and give a healthy complexion
More benefits of skin icing:
- Smoother skin
This technique tightens the skin and reduces the large pores by unclogging them and cleaning the excess sebum and debris. Skin icing makes the facial skin look smooth because it tones it.
- Pore primer
This is also a cheap way to tone your skin before applying makeup. It makes the foundation look smooth and flawless by minimizing the pores. So, before applying your primer make sure you ice your face first.
- Improve circulation
The ice makes the blood vessels shrink thus reduce the blood flow to the surface of the skin. This method is excellent treatment for swelling and inflammation because the cold temperature of ice makes the body send more warm blood to the area.
- Great for puffy eyes
Since ice reduces swelling it can also reduce the under eye bags.
- Reduce wrinkles
Skin icing is excellent for reducing existing wrinkles and preventing formation of new ones.
- Blemish control
Skin icing is excellent for treating pimples because it reduces the redness and swelling as well as the irritation.
Apply ace on the pimple as soon as you notice it to slow down the inflammation. You can also reduce the appearance of new blemishes or the size of the ones you already have. Take an ice cube and keep it for a few seconds until the skin feels numb. You should repeat this technique every other night.
Skin icing is a simple and easy treatment that you should perform in the morning and/or at evening. Just follow these steps:
- Thoroughly cleanse your face.
- Wrap two ice cubes in gauze or a soft cloth
- As soon as the ice starts to melt apply the cloth or gauze to your face.
- Hold the gauze/cloth on your face for 1-2 minutes on different areas.
- Move it in circular movements, starting at the chin and going all the way to the top of your forehead. Take care of the area under the eyes.
- Apply toner, acne treatment or a moisturizer.
Note:
- Some people use this technique by applying the ice directly on the face. If you want to try it without using gauze or cloth make sure you wear gloves otherwise, you will not be able to hold the cube very long.
- If you can’t apply the ice directly don’t worry because using a soft cloth has the same effect.
- If you use bare ice don’t apply it directly after taking it out from the freezer because it can break the capillaries.
- If you already have broken capillaries don’t use ice for too long.
- If the treatment feels uncomfortable stop it immediately. You should not perform it more than 15 minutes.
- For even better results add rosewater, green tea, cucumber, chamomile tea, lemon or any other ingredient that suits your skin to the water before freezing the cubes.
