This unusual practice works because there are numerous nerve endings at our fingertips. Pressing these nerve endings in certain ways helps create energy channels that flow through the whole body.
These exercises are so simple that you can perform them anywhere and anytime you want to. You can reach a state of absolute relaxation in just a few minutes.
- Gyan mudra for healing (Mudra of knowledge)
How to do it:
Sit in a lotus position and place your hand on your knees. Touch the tip of your thumb with the tip of your index finger and keep the other fingers closed or straight.
Benefits:
- this mudra helps you relax your mind and increases concentration
- it makes your brain work smarter and sharper
- it cures insomnia
- relieves stress and depression if regularly practiced
- Vayu mudra (Mudra of air)
How to do it:
Hold your index finger with your thumb close to the palm. Extend the other fingers as much as you can.

- eliminates excess gas from the body
- provides relief from issues related with the air element including: constipation, arthritis, flatulence, cervical spondylitis etc.
- Prithvi mudra for healing (Mudra of earth)
How to do it:
Touch the tips of your ring finger and thumb. Press them while keeping the remaining fingers extended.

- Balanced Earth element in the body
- Better blood flow, digestive power, body weight and reduces vitamin deficiency
- Agni mudra (Mudra of fire)
How to do it:
Close your ring finger and press it with the thumb base. Keep the other fingers extended. For best results this mudra should be performed in the morning before you eat or drink anything. In case you suffer from acidity don’t perform this position. This mudra is related to the fire element in the body.

- Reduces cholesterol levels and fats in the body, improves the immune system and metabolism
- Jal mudra (Varuna mudra/Mudra of water)
How to do it:
Touch the tips of your little finger and your thumb, press them and keep the other fingers straight. You should do this position while sitting with your legs crossed.

- Reduces dryness in the mouth and helps bring back the sense of taste
- Shunya mudra (Mudra of emptiness)
How to do it:
Press the first phalanx of your middle finger with the base of your thumb.

How to do it:
Touch the tips of your little, ring finger and thumb.
